A Beachin' Birthday Part 1

Brisco spent his 1st birthday in sunny Florida!
We started with a laundry basket pool.
Then we upgraded to an inflatable pool.
Gamma and Papa John made a perfect shade spot for Brisco.
He loved crawling in and out of his pool every day.
Brisco also loved his float boat when he was swimming in the pool.
 Getting comfy in the stroller...
First cake:  Happy Birthday Cookie Cake
 I think he likes it!
He gave lots of messy kisses.
Brisco's new favorite:  Patty Cake, Patty Cake
He loved showing off in front of Great-Grandpa Bill.
 Brisco loved, loved, loved watermelon!
The following pictures may not look like much, but they are so special to me.  One afternoon, we caught sight of a family of manatees.  Gramps insisted that they travel alone, but we counted at least five!  It was really a very rare thing.  In fact, there's this huge legend in my family that my Great-Grandpa Harold bumped into a manatee while he was out fishing one day.  As the story goes, he thought the manatee was a person floating around in the canal, so he cut the engine and said:  "Can I give you a lift?"  In all the years that I have heard that story, I have never seen a manatee in person.  To see a group of manatees all together was so awesome!
Manatees are also affectionately called "sea cows".
Great-Grandpa Bill's and Brisco's birthdays are one day apart.  We had to take them to Iguana Mia's for their free birthday dinner!  Brisco was a little overwhelmed.
His mommy enjoyed her top-shelf margarita.
Katie and Zach flew in for Easter weekend.
So obviously we didn't just plunk the entire plate in front of him, but it's a really fun picture!
Gramps got to wear the sombrero!
It was an awesome trip!  Part 2 coming soon...
